Graduated and matriculating
Hello all,
Can't believe it's been a month since my last post. Quite a lot's happened. I was at home for a little while, then I went on a last minute trip to Canada! I got to see Niagara falls, Toronto, and Peterborough (pictures may be going up soon, if I find time). Then two days after I got back it was my graduation ceremony, which was also the day I started as a graduate (there may also be pictures of my graduation soon).
I'm well and truly back in Oxford now. I've moved into my room which is about eight minutes by bike from the centre of town and college. My room is in a small flat let by Wadham college to graduates. There are four guys living here, and due to the acts of one cleanliness is a bit of a sore point! :(
Work started on my PhD pretty much almost immediately. It's quite a shock to the brain having to do hard intellectual work after nearly four months of not really thinking! It's great to be getting right into it though.
I'm trying to settle into a new life here which will probably be a little bit harder than expected. I'm lucky to have a few friends who have stayed on but I still need to work out a routine and establish a new social life that fits with living miles from everyone else.
I'll try and keep you guys more regularly posted.
Cheers,
Ali
